You start out as strangers.
First conversations are careful, guarded even. Slowly you start to open up, caring less of offending or being judged. You take baby steps, growing closer and closer each day. And then one day out of the blue you find yourself considering this person one of your closest friends. You've shared laughs and tears and so much more.
"We get along so well, we'll always be friends," you think.
And then you're separated. The first few months are okay. You don't hang out as much anymore but are friends nonetheless. But slowly you start to realize you're drifting apart. It's a slow and gradual process. At first it doesn't bother you; it's okay cause growing apart is a natural process, you think. But then days turn into weeks and months, and one day you wake up and realize that you no longer know the person, not anymore. You're gone from being *this* close to just being one of those hi-bye acquaintances.
And it ends, ultimately and ironically,
with you and the person being strangers once more.
